Financial services or
Mr. Olympia? My clients are not body builders. My
clients are normal every day business people who work long
hours, usually behind a desk, almost assuredly on a computer,
for long stretches. They are family people with kids, spouses
and homes. Giant, bulging, venous muscles aren't of benefit to
them. No one is going to see how ripped their thigh muscles
are through an Armani business suit. Boulder-like shoulder
muscles aren't going to benefit them when they're out on
Sunday playing a round of golf. My clients need useful,
functional fitness and through personal training and
Gyrotonic, that is exactly what they'll get.
Everyone can curl a dumbbell. No
need to hire a trainer to do that. But now that you've
mastered that, what next? How does curling a dumbbell benefit
your posture so your long hours in meetings and on the phone
don't cause a toll on your back or neck?

Every day when
I'm at the gym, I see people working out on their own who do
essentially the same thing every time they come in. For the
most part, if a person has been exercising for a long time
without the guidance of an expert, they'll get into and stay
in a routine of comfort. Because people in the financial
field, lawyers, college professors etc. aren't experts in the
fitness field, they don't understand they holes in their
training routine that are keeping them from optimal
health.
Using a personal trainer isn't just about having
someone count your reps or keep track of the weight When I'm
training a client, we're working through a systematic
progression of training modes ensuring all of the functional
systems of your body will be worked in a balanced manner. It
isn't just about stronger or bigger muscles, there is also
posture, balance, the stability of your joints, the strength
of your core, your ability to generate power and one of my
favorites, learning to breathe correctly. Not only will all of
these things help you feel and perform at your best but it
keeps your workout from getting stale and boring.
